Okay. So I'm not exactly a girl (I'm a WOMAN) ...
but I am the
BOSS.
I own my own business and I make it work between Army Reserve, Family Time, Me Time, and Spouse Time.
It's possible ladies.
I used to work for the local news paper in Fayetteville, NC. Even though it was a fantastic job and I learned so much from them, I wasn't being paid enough.
Now I'm not just saying paid enough as I WISH I earned more.
No, I DESERVED more.
I'm WORTH more.
Plus, I was never seeing my family and I had to work the hours they wanted me to work. When I got pregnant with my second son, I knew that the money I was pulling in was ONLY going to pay for my daycare expenses. What was the point of working an odd hour job JUST to pay daycare and not pocket anything?
There wasn't a point.
It was then I decided that when my baby was born, I'd quit my job and start my own photography business.
The. Scariest. Feeling Ever.
I'm not going to lie y'all, I almost pissed myself when my husband agreed with my decision. (Could've been that pregnant bladder too ...)
In the Girl Boss series, I'm going to explain everything - the good, bad, ugly and amazing things about owning your own business. Not all businesses are the same and these are only my experiences, but I think (and hope since you're still reading my shit) you may have the same experiences and laugh with me, cry with me, and maybe even learn something from me.
So sit back, and enjoy!
You got this Girl Boss!
