Playground Sweat | 'Werkit Out' Wednesday

Today is the day to get 'werkin' out!!!!

Easier said then done, huh?

LOL

I have been trying to push myself harder in the workout groups I attend, but honestly, if it wasn't for them I wouldn't even be out there working out.

The best thing I could have done was found like-minded people to hold me accountable. Like, physically accountable.

I've had people check in on me here and there, but it's not the same as actually showing up to work out with someone who knows you're supposed to be there for them as well.

So, I thank Strolling Eagles with Team RWB and the No Excuse Mom work out group here in El Paso and Fort Bliss. I'm wishing I had moved on post though! I am on post literally everyday with these groups it seems.

Don't get me wrong, Fort Bliss is awesome. I mean shit, all my workout buddies are there! But it's a 20-30 minute drive from my place off post - depending on traffic and it's a real eater of time when it's an hour round trip. (plus a stop to Starbucks of course.)

If it's not a workout group having me on post, it's a son's doctor appointment or an activity on there.

Today, I had the opportunity to go over the mountain and workout with another group, but again that's another 20 minute drive. And frankly, I just didn't want to today.

I wasn't feeling it.

BUT

Never fear y'all, I still went outside with the toddler in the stroller, ran to the playground, worked out, and ran back. 4 miles down and 20 minute (ish) HIIT.

Yes, that's a giant scorpion in front of the playground ... who does that?!

My point?

Just get out there y'all. Working out with friends is always fun, but sometimes staying near home is even better. What ever floats your boat. Just get out there and move!

Plus, I will STILL be going on post today since they're having free yoga sessions! Maybe this whole staying off post thing was a bad idea? ;)

Here's my work out! (See below signature)

Enjoy!

Playground Workout HIIT:
1 minute exercise, 20 second rest in between exercise-- do twice, no equipment needed besides the playground and a bench/something to step on or sit on.

Quick Circuit Workout & Motivation | 'Werkit' Out Wednesday

Hey guys!

Have you been consistent in working out?

Surprisingly  .... I have!

It's freaking awesome when you have a group of people who want to see you achieve the goals you want. I am part of a September weightless challenge that has numerous people challenging each other to get to the healthy lifestyle they want.

There's $350 at stake and I super want that moola! ;)

But more importantly, I'm being supported by people as well as being challenged by people who believe in what I'm doing. What I also like is that the coaches are inspiring us to continue, even though we may fail at weekly challenges or suffer through them. But they inspire us to continue.

And I dig that.

I also am part of two momma work out groups here. The Strolling Eagles (Team RWB) and The No Excuse Moms group.

These women pretty much are my accountability people. We have scheduled workouts on certain days and times. We push each other to get through a workout, run faster, farther, and just become the role models for our children that they deserve.

And I dig that.

My advice for you? Get a group together or search for one.

I am constantly not wanting to work out but because I know that these women are counting on me to show up, I show up. Suck through the workout, and then feel better about myself because I did it.

I mean, I DID IT. Even though I didn't want to.

And to end this motivational/workout post ... a quick circuit for you to do.

The Strolling Eagles did this work out last Monday and now I'm sharing with you. Why? Because the leader had to cut her workout short because of a school conference and the weather was ucky and no one wanted to stay anything longer than they had to. But you know what? Once everyone said their goodbye, me and the littlest stayed and completed our circuit .... eventually making it to 3 miles put in that day. So here it is!

Thank you to Sheena of Be Fit to Flourish for the workout!
Good luck y'all! My arms were dead after this workout! LOL! Remember ...

"Werkit" Out today!

Meeting New People | 'Werkit' Out Wednesdays

Okay, so granted the above pictures are my family ... and this post is entitled "Meeting New People."

HOWEVER,

I am using this picture because we are wearing our Team RWB shirts.

(and the fact that I just met a new group of people and shouldn't use their photos on a public forum without their permission ... but I mean, that's just morals right? LOL)

We became members in NC, and when we found out we were moving, this was one of the groups I made sure to check and see if TX had a chapter. And come to find out, El Paso has their very own chapter. So we were stoked.

This was our first run in Texas. It was a 10k which involved us carrying our passports because we ACTUALLY crossed the US/Mexico border for the run. We couldn't pass up this awesome opportunity. This was also the longest run our eldest did.

He complained the whole time.

I mean, the WHOLE TIME.

But in the end, he was first place in his age group. LOL (probably the only 9 year old to run the race, but none-the-less, he was first)

But I digress.

Team RWB has literally surrounded our lives and we didn't feel so lonely when moving. Because well, we still had a "family." Even though we were leaving everything and everyone we knew in NC.

Sooooooo.....

It took a while for us -- ME -- to join in on their awesome activities here in El Paso. But when I saw that some of the ladies get together for a stroller workout. I knew I HAD to go. And thank goodness for groups like Team RWB.

I was immediately greeted and accepted into the crew with like-minded women who have to juggle working out and little children. They get it that sometimes you have to stop your workout to pick up a sip cup. Or you have to walk a little bit because your little one wants to flail their legs around "run" with you, just like you.

Boy! If my legs fly out to the sides like that when I run ... I've got to work on my technique.

But it's cool. Because Team RWB is all about making sure veterans (and their families) stay community involved and know how to integrate into civilian life and to just be around like-minded people. It's awesome. I'm sure I didn't say their mission exactly right, so check out their website HERE.

But the whole point is, get out there guys. I hate meeting new people. I'm a quiet person and I normally won't talk to you until you talk to me. I've always been like that. But I had step out of my comfort zone and just get out there.

Because who really wants to be cooped up in their house all day and not talk to an adult until their spouse comes home from work? I mean, I don't. Do you?

Also, getting out their with other people who share your own hobbies and beliefs sets an example to your children. They get to socialize while momma is werkin' it to better herself as well.

So get out there guys.

Meet new people.

And hell, if you don't like the first group of people ...

Try again. You'll find your "weirdos" eventually. I promise.

I'm still looking for my "weirdos" here ... but I know I'm heading in the right direction. Even though I may have come off a little TOO hardheaded strong-willed when I had to step up and defend Fort Bragg because another woman had a completely different experience than I had ... I really wanna take her back to Bragg and be like, "See? It's rally not THAT bad..." LOL <3 hope she looks past my loud mouth and doesn't hate me just yet ... haha!

Good luck y'all!

Do it, Distractions and all | 'WerkIt' Out Wednesday

Alright folks. I dragged my ass out into the garage to work out today.

I didn't wanna do it.

Nope.

It was 11am and I had been sitting on the couch, watching Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood ... or some shit like that and I just didn't wanna move.

But guess what?

I jammed my boobs into a sports bra. Squeezed my butt into workout capris and walked my dragging ass out to the garage. Toddle in stow.

And I worked out.

But I did have a midget Darth Vader interrupt me multiple times.

Yep.

But I did it.

How was your workout?

Playground Workout | 'Werkit' out Wednesday

Today's 'Werkit' Out Wednesday is all about multi-tasking.

Because

FACE IT

That's what us moms do when we need to get shit done.

So next time you head to the playground, don't just sit on your butt playing Candy Crush.

What?

Don't look at me like that. I know you do it.

Oh, my bad, your browsing Facebook or Pinterest trying to figure out how to be a better momma.

Well STOP!

You are the best momma out there and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.

Dress in workout clothes, and 'werkit' while your children play!

This is the best, you can keep an eye out on your children, work out, and kick out that frustration all at the same time. And you didn't "waste" an hour at the playground.

This is where I put my disclaimer .... yada yada yada. I'm not a doctor. I'm not a trainer. Make sure your kids are safe. blah blah blah. You know the drill. You know your body. If it hurts, stop. If your kids cries, help him. If it's windy, too hot, lightening ... I mean, you're adult. Do what you gotta do.

Werkit LADIES!!!

'Werkit' Out Wednesday | Look for the hidden messages

Pretty right?

I mean, I ALMOST didn't get to see this beautiful sight.

Why?

Because "F" running. I mean, shit. I'm just a mom that wants to sleep. But nooooo, I have a kid I need to hustle out the door to get to school on time. And another kid who thinks 5 am is completely normal hour to wake up at for a human being.

But because I was up, I packed the jogging stroller and brought the blanket for the little guy to stay warm in while I tried to mentally prepare myself for this stupid ass run.

And let me tell ya, I was cussing the whole way in my head.

"Damn you shoelaces."

"Why do I need to do this shit?"

"Why are my flipping leggings sliding down my waist?! There's plenty of flab there to hold them up?!"

"Fuck it, skinny is overrated."

And then this happened.

It was chilly, but it was muggy. The sun was peeking over the tress and the sun rays were just glistening.

I literally stopped on the trail. Mouth wide open. The only sound I hear was my little guy just munching on his crackers.

It was beautiful.

It reminded me that today is a gift. Not everyone gets a today. Make it the best today ever, because no one is guaranteed a tomorrow.
